Granny Jackson’s Dead…but her story isn’t
Her family would like to invite all those who knew her to Netherley Valley Community Theatre…
(Except the Kelly’s from the Glens, anyone from the council, Big Jim, Miss Gilmour, and Brendan – he knows what he did). We’d like you to pay your respects and give her a good send off.
She will be dearly missed by her devoted, adoring, clever, beautiful, hardworking, long-suffering, generous-to-a-fault daughter Susan and by the rest of the family.
P.S. Anyone who would like to connect with her, she will also be streamed across several platforms and mixed realities – Darren Jackson (grandson).
…………………………………………………………………………….
This performance uses flashing lights, loud noises, fire and immersive technology. It involves themes of death and grief. It is produced by Big Telly Theatre Company.

Lifestyle Choice? (My A**E!)
Lifestyle Choice? (My A**E!)
Rough Sleeping Drama at Valley Theatre.
Following on from their success last year with “They All Came Tumbling Down” a play about the struggle to knock down the notorious Netherley Flats, Valley Theatre are continuing their tradition of staging entertaining plays with a social edge with their latest production:
“Lifestyle Choice? My A**e!” The play, written by Steve Bird and Tom Mclennan, is a humorous response to Suella Braverman’s controversial claim that rough sleepers actually prefer to sleep out on the streets.
It follows the story of Jody, who goes looking for her ex- Soldier father in the streets of Liverpool with the help of a charity Outreach Worker.
But be prepared for a lot of laughter and song as well as some hard-hitting drama about this increasingly worrying trend in our cities and towns.
As Matt Downie of the charity Crisis says: “Right now we’re in a perfect storm: sky-high rents, a dire shortage of affordable housing, and increased living costs are pushing more people on to the streets. For thousands this means long nights of trying to stay safe, moving from night bus to night bus, or bedding down in a noisy doorway where sleep is all but impossible.”
Open Mic Nights
Calling all musicians!
Purely for the love of music we’re launching our Open Mic Nights from 28th June 2024 onwards.
4:30pm-6:30pm is for young people in the age category of 13-17yrs.
7pm onwards is for adults 18+ complete with licensed bar.
Sets invited between 10mins & 20 mins.
Atmosphere: laid back/relaxed/chill.
Great way for musicians to network and try out new material on an audience whilst raising money for charity!
You never know - we may invite you or your band to play at a future main stage event where one lucky band will receive a free studio time voucher!
We're All Scrooged!

Saturday 3rd February 2024 Matinee 1pm Doors, 2pm Show.
Saturday 3rd February 2024 6pm Doors, 7pm Show.
It's Christmas eve in Netherley and local tight-wad, Ebenezer Scrooge is telling all the carol singers and charity cadgers to “do one”. But the stingy Scouser will have his heart-strings tugged by the end of the night as the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future show him what a miserable get he's become. A hilarious panto retelling of the classic story with a Scouse twist, complete with songs and comic madness.
The Celine Project - A Tribute to Celine Dion
A stunning tribute to Celine Dion recreating her Las Vegas show, with live vocals from Angie Lang, fully choreographed with dancers, costume changes and all the iconic songs such as “Because you loved me” “I drove all night” “It's All coming back to me now” and of course “My heart will go on”… songs every Celine Dion fan will love!
A Sense of Place
Valley Theatre continues its encouragement of new writing on merseyside with another of its acclaimed showcase evenings of drama for the Liverpool Fringe.
'RELATABLE'
Valley Youth Theatre presents….’RELATABLE’ - a play about all the ways we connect with others.
Our young actors have been working hard to bring this show to the stage and they are confident that it's going to be a fantastic production. The process has offered a wonderful opportunity for our youth to explore the importance of genuine connections and the many forms of relationships in our lives.
They All Came Tumbling Down
Coming soon..."They All Came Tumbling Down" The story of the notorious Netherley flats.
In the 1960s and 1970s, the Urban Renewal Strategy for Liverpool saw the construction of 32,000 new houses in central and outlying areas like Netherley.
It was a time of hope for many working-class families, looking forward to their first new home. The dream soon turned sour, however, for those allocated a place in the soon-to-be-notorious Netherley flats. They became known as Alactraz to the families who had to live with their uninspiring concrete architecture and poor design.
The "Corpie" were reluctant to do anything about the many complaints they received about conditions there but if they thought the residents would take it all lying down, they were to be disappointed.
Inspired by the Flat Dwellers Action Group, their campaign of direct action forced the authorities to think again and eventually led to the demolition of the flats and re-allocation of the families there.
"They All Came Tumbling Down" tells the story of the campaign and is brought to the Valley Community Theatre with support from Liverpool City Council's Mayoral fund.
